The Mac App Store edition is in preparation. This guide describes its intended setup and controls; public download and purchase availability have not started.

Getting started

  1. Enable the keyboard layouts you use in macOS, then open LayoutFix. Its icon appears in the menu bar.
  2. Follow the app’s setup prompts for Input Monitoring and Accessibility in System Settings → Privacy & Security. Relaunch LayoutFix if it asks you to.
  3. Open LayoutFix Pro to choose a plan, or use Restore Purchases for an existing purchase made with the same Apple Account.
  4. In Settings → General, choose the participating layouts and enable automatic correction. Words are checked after Space.

Automatic recognition depends on the dictionaries and keyboard layouts available in macOS. Selection commands depend on the receiving app supporting copying and pasting the selected text. Not every app or input method supports every command.

Default shortcuts

ShortcutAction
⌥⇧SpaceFix the last word, undo a fix or cycle layouts
⌥⇧KConvert the layout of selected text, where supported
⌥⇧UChange the case of selected text, where supported
⌥⇧TTransliterate selected text, where supported
⌥⇧ATurn automatic correction on or off

Change shortcuts in Settings → Shortcuts. Turning automatic correction off leaves manual commands available. App exclusions also affect automatic correction only. To stop observing typing, choose Quit from the LayoutFix menu.

If a correction is wrong

Use the last-word shortcut immediately to undo it. If “Remember a word as an exception when a fix is undone” is enabled, the original word is added to your local exceptions. You can review and remove exception words in Settings → Exceptions.

If nothing happens

If typing becomes unreliable, quit LayoutFix and contact support with a short, non-sensitive example.

Purchases and cancellation

All four Pro options unlock the same features. The monthly, six-month and yearly options renew automatically; the lifetime option is a one-time purchase. The price shown by Apple before confirmation is the price you pay.

Use Restore Purchases in the Pro window to refresh an existing purchase. Manage or cancel a subscription in your App Store subscription settings. Deleting LayoutFix does not cancel a subscription.

Local settings and privacy

Preferences, replacement rules and exception words stay on your Mac. Remove individual rules and exceptions in Settings. Quitting LayoutFix does not delete these saved items. macOS app preferences may remain after an app is removed.

The clipboard conversion command replaces the clipboard text. Selection commands may use the clipboard temporarily; other apps or clipboard managers may observe that content. See the privacy policy.

What to include in a support message

Your macOS and LayoutFix versions, the affected app, the enabled keyboard layouts and a short made-up example help us reproduce a problem. Do not send passwords, private documents, payment details or a recording of unrelated typing.
